About Alan James

Alan JamesYou know that old phrase, "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life"? Could have been written about Alan. He’s worked continuously in the web since 1995 for some of the biggest and smallest brands, both here in Australia and back in his native United Kingdom.

Alan started off his working life at Siemens in Manchester, as a sponsored student on his industrial placement year. He took an early interest in the rapidly evolving Internet, and recommended to his bosses they really should investigate the idea of having a website. They embraced his idea, and the rest is history.

After becoming the UK’s joint representative for their worldwide steering committee meetings, and writing a research Master’s degree on “The Business Case for Using the Internet” - he then took the ambitious, some might say daft decision to leave Siemens and move the other side of the world with nothing more than a backpack and a handful of CVs.

Various productive stints at agencies, dot coms, top tier law firms and banks later, Alan decided it was about time he put his knowledge and experience to the test and form his own digital agency. In 2002, Adventia Consulting was born.

Since then, Adventia has gone on to work with some of the biggest and best, as well as helping new start-ups, not-for-profits and cottage industries find their way on the web. For each project, Alan throws all his enthusiasm and passion for the web to it – you’ll see this the moment you meet him and he starts talking web. He’s a passionate believer in doing web ‘the right way’, which includes web standards, accessibility for those less able, and user experience, whilst not losing focus that your website is there to make you money and find you clients.
